“I just want to fit in.”

Being a teenager is tough, especially when you’re dealing with school, friends,
family, and social media. For 2SLGBTQIA+ teens, there’s the added challenge of
figuring out your identity and dealing with the fear of rejection or ridicule. It can
feel like you’re always trying to fit in but never quite feeling like you belong.

As a parent, you always want what is best for your child...

You’ve always imagined a bright future for your child, filled with success and happiness. Yet, navigating their struggles can have you feeling out of your depth. You desperately want to understand and support your teen, but it’s challenging when you can’t relate to their experiences. Every attempt to connect seems to fall short, and you fear that nothing you do is ever enough.

As a teen, you want to talk to someone without feeling judged or dismissed...

At night, you can’t sleep because you’re wondering, “Where do I fit in?” and “Will I ever belong?” On top of that, there’s the stress of school and everything else. You wish your parents would understand you better, but it feels like they’re not really listening. You just want someone to talk to who will hear you out and let you be yourself.

Teen therapy provides a safe non-judgemental space to explore emotions and embrace your true self with pride and acceptance.

Does this sound like you?

At Kaleidoscope Counselling Collective, we can help you develop the tools you need to handle whatever life throws your way.

APPROACHES USED IN TEEN THERAPY

How We Can Help Teens

We offer a supportive environment free from judgment or prejudice helping 2SLGBTQIA+ teens embrace their authentic selves and navigate adolescence with pride, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

Various modalities inform our work including:

We offer a private space for adolescents to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns. This personalized approach allows us to build trust and dive into individual challenges to create a customized plan for experiencing self-awareness and emotional growth.
These are sessions where two individuals, often a parent and a teen, explore their relationship dynamics under the guidance of a therapist. By addressing family interactions and patterns, this approach helps improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen family bonds.
We provide caregivers with tools and insights to better understand and support their teen’s emotional well-being. By learning effective parenting strategies and communication skills, parents can create a supportive environment to help their teen’s growth and development.
CBT helps equip teens with practical skills to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviours. Through structured exercises and homework assignments, CBT empowers adolescents to manage stress, anxiety, and depression more effectively.
DBT teaches teens mindfulness, emotion regulation, and interpersonal skills to navigate intense emotions and improve relationships.
EFT focuses on exploring and processing emotions to promote healing and growth. Through empathetic exploration of feelings, teens can develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences, leading to emotional resolution and well-being.
This method emphasizes identifying and building upon the strengths and resources of teens. By highlighting their abilities and positive attributes, this approach boosts self-esteem and empowers teens to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
This method encourages teens to envision and work towards achievable solutions to their problems. By shifting the focus from past issues to future possibilities, this approach fosters optimism and motivation, leading to tangible progress and outcomes.
Our experienced therapists engage teens in a collaborative conversation to explore their challenges and inhibitions towards change and build intrinsic motivation. By honouring their autonomy and values, therapists help teens clarify their goals and commitment to positive behaviour change.

Unlock your potential and embrace your true self.

ABOUT US

Why Work With Kaleidoscope Counselling Collective

Kristie Brassard

MSW, RSW

Founder & Clinical Director
Our psychotherapy and counselling practice was built on the philosophy that we’re all imperfect humans with our own strengths and struggles – there are no bad parts of us, only steps to take in our personal journey to living authentically.

When you’re struggling with your emotions, feeling disconnected, or craving more meaning in your life, it can be hard to know what you need to start feeling better.

There are so many competing priorities that you feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or stuck existing in a space that isn’t giving you enough joy, peace, or purpose. We want to help tap into the inner strength that allows you to uncover the passion, confidence, and courage you have for living wholly as you.

Our clinicians have extensive lived experience and professional expertise. We use a client-centered, eclectic, and holistic approach to help you get the results you need.
